The Social Welfare Department of Uttar Pradesh offers the UP Scholarship scheme to provide financial assistance to students belonging to General, OBC, SC, ST, and Minority categories studying in Pre-Matric (Classes 9-10) and Post-Matric (Classes 11-12, Graduation, Post-Graduation, and Diploma courses). This initiative ensures that students from financially weak backgrounds can pursue higher education without financial obstacles.

Eligibility Criteria for UP Scholarship 2026

To qualify for the Uttar Pradesh scholarship scheme, applicants must satisfy the following terms:

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
• The student must be enrolled in a recognized school, college, or university within the state.
• Annual Family Income Limits: For SC/ST categories, the annual family income must not exceed ₹2.5 Lakh. For General, OBC, and Minority categories, the limit is up to ₹2.0 Lakh.
• Students must maintain minimum attendance requirements and pass their previous qualifying examinations.

How to Register and Fill UP Scholarship Form Online

The scholarship portal opens annually for fresh registrations and renewals. Here is the registration process:

1. Visit the official portal at scholarship.up.gov.in.
2. Click on the 'Student' tab and select 'Registration'. Choose your category and course type (Pre-Matric, Post-Matric Intermediate, or Post-Matric Other Than Inter).
3. Fill in your basic details (Name, Father's Name, Date of Birth, School/College details, Mobile Number) and generate a password. Submit to get your Registration Number.
4. Log in using your Registration Number, Date of Birth, and password. Complete the application form, upload documents, and link your Aadhaar card via OTP verification.
5. Submit the hard copy of the printed form along with supporting documents (Income certificate, Caste certificate, Fee receipt, Marksheets, and Bank passbook) to your college office within the deadline.

How to Track UP Scholarship Payment Status

After your form is verified by the college and district welfare committee, the scholarship amount is transferred directly to your bank account. You can check the payment status using the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) portal by entering your bank account number and select bank name, or by logging into the UP Scholarship portal and clicking on 'Check Current Status'.
